This chocolate smoothie is a great choice for those hot days when you crave a chocolate milkshake but want a healthier option. This really does taste like a milkshake. And if you add ice and frost it up, it has the thick consistency of one of those ice cream milkshakes we all love.
Ingredients and method
Makes 2 drinks
- 1 banana
- 2 tsp pea protein (you can use any protein powder you want or even leave it out completely)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1-2 tsp good quality cocoa powder
- 1 tbs cocoa nibs
- 1 mug milk
- 1 tbs agave syrup
- 1 tbs coconut oil (this has been shown to be a great energy booster)
- 1 mug ice cubes
- Put all the ingredients in your blender and blitz slowly, increasing your speed gradually to save your blender blades. Blend to the consistency you like (if it’s too thin, add a bit more banana and ice, and if it’s too thick, add more milk). Pour out into your favourite glasses and add a glass straw.
